University of Hawaiʻi System Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Linda Johnsrud recently spoke about the “new normal” in funding for higher education, what it means for the UH and how the university might be more innovative in its effort to graduate more students. Watch her entire speech in the video above.

Johnsrud was speaking November 1 at the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents sponsored forum on the cost of public higher education during a time when state funding is declining across the country.

Panelists, guest speakers and invited participants discussed what drives the cost of education, how productive UH campuses are comparatively, how colleges can be more cost effective and how the UH can better meet the needs of the community.

Invited participants included members of the UH Board of Regents, former regents, state lawmakers and the UH and business communities. Guest speakers include UH Interim President David Lassner, National Center for Higher Education Management Systems President Dennis Jones and National Association of System Heads Former Executive Director and Delta Cost Project Founding Director Jane Wellman.
