Free tech workshops at Geek Day

Free workshops on technology and today’s digital lifestyle are offered at the fifth annual Geek Day @ Leeward on Saturday, February 22, 10 a.m. at Leeward Community College.

Geek Day @ Leeward features free hands-on workshops and demonstrations on a variety of digital, mobile and technology topics, from social media and cloud computing to digital photography and computer security. The sessions are designed for the general public, with several sessions geared specifically to educators, small businesses and non-profits.

All activities are free and open to the public. Workshops include both Mac and Windows platforms. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for registration, with the first session beginning at 10 a.m. Door prizes include iTunes, GooglePlay and Amazon gift cards and more.

Geek Day also offers a Digital Café, where you can discover new apps for mobile devices, join discussions and mini-roundtables on a variety of topics or simply ask college staff a tech question.

For the photography sessions, participants are asked to bring their own camera. Lunch will be available from several food vendors on site.
