The University of Hawaiʻi will hold the 2nd Annual Hawaii Sustainability in Higher Education Summit at Windward Community College, March 13–15. The summit is a three-day conference for work planning, program sharing and skill building for sustainability for the University of Hawaiʻi 10-campus system and higher education colleagues at Hawaiʻi Pacific University, Brigham Young University—Hawaiʻi and Chaminade University.

The summit is organized by a collaborative group of faculty, staff, students and administrators throughout the state, and supported by the University of Hawaiʻi System and Vice-President for Community Colleges John Morton.

The summit will engage participants in four tracks including policy and planning, program sharing (curriculum, operations, green workforce development and sustainable businesses), skill building and service projects and student leadership.

Student members of the newly launched statewide Student Sustainability Coalition of Hawaiʻi will organize a student forum to share their experiences in working towards more sustainable campuses and to organize around cross-campus sustainability projects.
