Kapiolani CC celebrates 26th Annual International Festival
Kapiʻolani Community College’s 26th Annual International Festival March 17–20, is a celebration of cultures that showcases international education at Kapiʻolani CC. This year’s theme “Treasures” highlights the importance of remembering and perpetuating the traditions of all cultures.
The festival will feature guest speakers, dance and music performances, art exhibits, films, poetry and literature readings and more. The free festival is open to the public.
International events include a Parade of Cultures, the Japan Survivor game, skits and stories in their original languages, lectures on the music of India and the Philippines and performances by world music band Cerro Negro and Hindustani slide guitar master Debashish Bhattacharya. Festival participants can also try chinlone, the national sport of Burma.
The festival will also showcase international films including the documentary Plastic Paradise, Chinese film Return Ticket and Japanese films Great Passages, Tonari No Totoro and Tale of Yonosuke.
