Three finalists have been identified for the position of director, Hawaiʻi Institute of Geophysics and Planetology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The three are scheduled to participate in two-day visits that cover department discussions; meetings with senior administrators, faculty, staff, students, and internal and external constituents; and a public presentation.

Candidates

Rhett Butler, visiting April 21–22

  • Interim director, Hawaiʻi Institute of Geophysics and Planetology, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa
  • Public Presentation: “Sharing Science for Society: Studying a Great Tsunami Threat to Hawaiʻi,” April 22, 3 p.m., POST Building 723

Jonathan Dehn, visiting April 28–29

John LaBrecque, visiting May 1–2

  • Lead, Earth Surface and Interior Focus Area, NASA Science Mission Directorate, National Aeronautics and Space Administration
  • Public Presentation: “Tracking Tsunamis,” May 2, 3 p.m., MSB Building 114
