UH West Oʻahu will be participating in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on April 9.

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month this April, the University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu campus community will participate in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®, an international men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence, on Wednesday, April 9. The event begins at 10:50 a.m. at the UH West Oʻahu Courtyard

UH West Oʻahu students, faculty and staff will participate in a walk around the UH West Oʻahu campus, many wearing women’s high-heeled shoes or decorated slippers, to demonstrate support for efforts to stop the violence.

The walk is meant to put participants literally “in someone else’s shoes” as a show of support and solidarity behind the goal of ending sexualized violence against women.

UH West Oʻahu Chancellor Rockne Freitas will offer brief opening remarks and participate in the march.
