Kapiʻolani Community College’s Kupuna Education Center is offering home caregiver training based on the nationally recognized Schmieding Method. The training is flexible and is available to those who wish to make this work a career, or for anyone who needs more skills as a volunteer family caregiver.
According to a recent report by the U.S. Department of Labor, the in-home caregiver vocation, which is also known as a personal care assistant or in-home assistant, is projected to be the second fastest growing occupation in the U.S. between now and 2020.
Anyone who is interested in this training should attend a general information session at Kapiʻolani CC at Kopiko Building, Room 242. This initial session will provide information about dates and times for classes and answer questions about employment opportunities and tuition loans.
General information sessions
- Saturday, May 3, 9–11 a.m.
- Tuesday, May 6, 5–7 p.m.
