Ten years after Hurricane Katrina, expert panelists from a variety of disciplines discuss lessons learned and their implications in Hawaiʻi.
A new scoreboard overlooks the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo softball field. The scoreboard, in the red-and-black colors of the UH Hilo Vulcans, was sponsored by KTA Super Stores in partnership with the UH Hilo Office of Athletics and Vulcan Athletic Club, and installed by Hirayama Brothers Electric.
“The timing was perfect—the old scoreboard was on its last legs after more than a decade,” said Tim Moore, UH Hilo interim director athletics. “We are very thankful and appreciative of KTA Super Stores’ continued support of our programs and the Big Island’s athletic community throughout the history of Vulcans Athletics.”
KTA also sponsors an ongoing fundraiser for all UH Hilo sports. The annual Score for Scholarships campaign encourages college athletes to do what they do best: play hard and win hard! During each home game KTA donates money per point scored to the UH Hilo Office of Intercollegiate Athletics. So far this year, the campaign has raised $8,900.
“We at KTA Super Stores love supporting our talented college athletes and encouraging their continued pursuit of excellent sportsmanship. Imua Vulcans!” said Pearl Daimaru-Orozco, marketing manager at KTA Super Stores.
