The University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents elected new officers for the 2014–2015 academic year on July 17 at its full board meeting at the Information Technology Center, UH Mānoa campus. Regent Randolph G. Moore of Honolulu was unanimously elected Chair, as were new Vice Chairs Regent Jan Naoe Sullivan, also of Honolulu, and Regent Eugene Bal III of Maui. Moore succeeds outgoing Regent and Chair John C. Holzman and former Vice Chairs Saedene Ota and James Lee. The term of office is one year.

New Chair Moore joined the board in 2013 and is a retired business executive with Castle and Cooke, Molokaʻi Ranch and Kāneʻohe Ranch; middle school teacher and Department of Education administrator. Moore graduated from Punahou School, Swarthmore College and the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. (link to entire bio: link to Moore bio)

Vice Chair Sullivan is the chief operating officer of Hawaiʻi technology firm Oceanit, managing activities such as early-stage research and development, start-up company formation and capitalization. She is a graduate of the University Laboratory School, and earned a BA in sociology from the University of Colorado and a JD from the University of Hawaiʻi at Māno’s William S. Vice Chair Bal of Maui County is the former executive director of the Maui High Performance Computing Center and a retired Naval officer with over 40 years of experience in leadership roles. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and earned a master of science degree from the Naval Postgraduate School. (link to Bal bio)

The next full board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 21 at Windward Community College.
