The University of Hawaiʻi Bookstores unveil a new HI Pride T-shirt designed by UH Mānoa graduate student Rissa Fedora. Fedora’s winning design was chosen through an online poll via and made available on shirts at UH Bookstores locations across nine campuses and online.

The annual UH Bookstores’ HI Pride T-shirt design contest, now in its third year, is open to all UH students each spring. Students are asked to design a shirt that shows what HI Pride means to them.

Fedora is a grduate student studying mathematics at UH Mānoa. “HI Pride can be shown from every island of Hawai’ and at all UH campuses,” says Fedora. Her design incorporates 10 campus names and local jargon such as slippah and spam musubi into the letters “HI Pride.” “These words are what bring the Hawaiʻi community together as one family.”

2014 HI Pride T-shirts are printed in each UH campus’ colors to support school spirit and to celebrate National Campus Colors Day on August 29. UH students also receive a half-price discount on their first 2014 HI Pride T-shirt with valid student ID.

Fedora received a $200 UH Bookstores gift card, the first HI Pride shirt with her design and a $100 prize pack of school supplies from the Mānoa Bookstore. Prizes were also given to UH Mānoa exchange student Travis Yuen Ho Long of Hong Kong for his runner-up design.
