Jared and Donna Murayama have pledged $100,000 to support the Wahine sand volleyball team and facilities at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Athletics Department. In recognition of the Murayama’s generosity, the Wahine sand volleyball head coach’s office has been named “Murayama ʻOhana! Cara, Jaimie, Donna and Jared. Aloha and Go Bows!”

“Private support like this generous investment from the Murayamas spurs growth in quality, compliance and competitive success,” said Athletics Director Ben Jay. “We are most grateful to the Murayamas and our other generous donors for investing in our student-athletes’ success and the athletic programs that enrich our community.”

Added Scott Wong, Wahine sand volleyball head coach, “The generous financial support that we have received from the Murayamas, and the rest of the community in Hawaiʻi, has helped provide our student-athletes an enhanced experience while at UH, and ultimately the best chance to compete for a national championship. A big mahalo to the Murayama ʻohana for investing in the overall success of our student-athletes!”

“We hope that all University of Hawaiʻi sports fans get behind the sand volleyball program,” said Jared Murayama. “They have a real shot at becoming national champions and private support will help them get there!”
