The Department of Education and Kapiʻolani Community College presents the 6th Annual Honolulu District Science and Engineering Fair at the Kapiʻolani campus on February 14, 8 a.m.

Students from 16 elementary schools, 11 middle schools and 8 high schools will be competing for a berth in various categories to enter the Hawaiʻi State Science and Engineering Fair in April.

This year’s projects include A-Mazing: Generating Solution Pathways for Randomized Mazes, The Road to Success is Always Under Construction, Cloudy with a Chance of Turbidity and Apple Everlasting.

Because of the campus’s award-winning science, technology, engineering and math program, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Louise Pagotto thought Kapiʻolani CC would be a perfect venue for the science fair.

“We are committed to supporting schools that encourage students to be engaged in what they do, so they will appreciate learning, and be proud of their achievements,” said Chancellor Leon Richards. “We are happy to partner with the Department of Education to excite young minds toward self-discovery.”
