Leeward Community College mahalo ad with graduate

The University of Hawaiʻi was well represented in the Star Advertiser’s 2016 Hawaiʻi’s Best Awards in the education categories. UH Mānoa and UH Hilo placed first and second in the Hawaiʻi’s Best College category, and Leeward, Honolulu and Kapiʻolani Community Colleges placed first, second and third, respectively in the Best Career/Technical Education category.

The Leeward Theatre also won second place in the Live Theater category.

Leeward CC Chancellor Manny Cabral received the First Place plaque at the Star Advertiser’s Hawaiʻi’s Best Award celebration on June 20 at the Pacific Club. “We are so happy to repeat our first and second place awards,” he said. “Being selected as Hawaiʻi’s Best is a reflection of the dedication and hard work of everyone at the college.”

“We are very happy to have been recognized as Hawaiʻi’s Best in Career and Technical Education for the second year in a row and for our second place finish in Live Theater,” saidLeeward’s Career and Technical Education Dean Ron Umehira. “Our appreciation goes out to all those that voted for Leeward CC and recognized the quality of our credit and non-credit career and technical programs and the performances in our theater.”

The Hawaiʻi’s Best Awards are annually chosen by the readers of the Star Advertiser.
