Mayor Alan Arakawa

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College held their first Education and Career Fair on July 28, 2016. Mayor Alan Arakawa and his wife Ann were in attendance.

The goal of the Education and Career Fair was to attract community members to their campus, present their resource center and networking hub and most importantly demonstrate how their resources can support and teach skills needed for academic and professional advancement. Mayor Arakawa reminded the audience, “to keep learning, never stop.”

The Education and Career Fair had three panels featuring alumni, faculty, and special guests. These panel members were able to share their experience and inspire the audience to be open–minded about learning and trying new things. Panel members emphasized the importance of learning second languages, expanding math skills and improving customer service.

Sixteen booths were present featuring student support services and academic programs. Attendees of the event could complete on-site applications, receive financial aid, scholarships and additional information about student life.
