For the sixth year in a row, Leeward Community College has earned the 2017 Military Friendly® School designation by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, STEM JobsSM and Military Spouse. The Military Friendly® Schools designation is awarded to the top colleges in the country that are doing the most to embrace the military student population by dedicating resources to ensure the students’ success both in the classroom and after graduation.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
“Here at Leeward Community College, we are fortunate to be able to serve a large percentage of our island veterans, military personnel and dependents,” said Chancellor Manny Cabral. “Along with our committed faculty, staff and administration, our campus Veterans Resource Center serves an important role in helping to transition veterans and active military students into college life and academic success. The college is pleased once again to be recognized as a 2017 Military Friendly School.”
