Honolulu Community College Chancellor Erika Lacro received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award on January 9. Chancellor Lacro was nominated by Brent Rubio, sergeant first class with the Hawaiʻi Army National Guard and a chemistry instructor at Honolulu CC.

“Chancellor Lacro has shown sincere commitment to supporting not only the faculty and staff that serve in the National Guard and Reserves, but also to hundreds of our student veterans on campus by giving her support for VA programs on campus. This kind of example from the very top of the Honolulu CC leadership creates a campus-wide culture of support for our veterans, guard personal and reservists,” shares Rubio, who has served with the guard since 1998.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. For more information visit the ESGR website.
