The Korean Government and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Honolulu are sponsoring the 2015 Global Taste of Korea Regional Contest to be held at Kapiʻolani Community College on July 13, 2015. The cooking contest begins at 11:30 am in ʻŌhiʻa Building, Room 112. Hawaiʻi’s regional contestants will vie for $500 (1st place), $300 (2nd place) and $200 (3rd place) awards.

This international Korean culinary competition introduces Korean culture through Korean food. Read more about this exciting contest at the Global Taste of Korea website.

The Hawaiʻi Regional Contest is one of 17 regional contests held in 16 countries worldwide. The 17 regional winners will win a free trip to Korea for the semi-final and final stages of this international competition. These 17 winners will experience a variety of flavors and traditional culture of Korea for 10 nights and 11 days. The grand prize winner will receive $10,000.

How to apply

Download the application form as well as the consent and agreement form, complete and send to consulatehi@mofa.go.kr no later than July 5, 2015.

Applicants who make a self-introduction video, post it on YouTube and provide a link, will receive additional points in evaluation. The winner of the regional contest will be eventually required to submit a video introduction.
