The top doctors in Hawaiʻi continue to be those affiliated with the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) at University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

Nearly three of four physicians identified in the September 2015 Honolulu Magazine as “Hawaiʻi’s Top Doctors” are graduates of the UH medical school, its MD residency or fellowship programs, or serve on its faculty.

In the field of obstetrics, gynecology and women’s health, for example, 22 out of 27 specialists who made the magazine’s “Top Doctors” list are JABSOM-trained.

“The University of Hawaiʻi medical school is the single most important contributor to the physician workforce in Hawaiʻi, and produces extraordinary doctors,” said John A. Burns School of Medicine Dean Jerris Hedges.

Honolulu Magazine’s “Top Doctors” list

Honolulu Magazine published a list of 532 physicians in its September 2015 “Top Doctors” issue.

The physicians chosen for the honor were selected by Castle Connolly, a company that collected nominations and screened finalists for the honor as part of its America's Top Doctors survey.

Physicians were asked to nominate peers who stand out for their excellence in their field and to whom they would recommend to members of their own family seeking care. On the list, 288 of the 532 doctors are graduates or are faculty at JABSOM.
