HONOLULU — The University of Hawaiʻi‘s six Oʻahu-based campuses successfully raised over $415,000 to support Aloha United Way (AUW) and its annual campaign.

Through generous contributions and a rousing softball tournament, UH was able to meet 100 percent of its goal and donate the highest total ever raised in support of the AUW campaign.

"Mahalo to the entire Oʻahu-based university community for their donations and to the dedicated co-chairs and coordinators who helped make this achievement possible," said UH President David McClain. "UH is proud to participate in the annual AUW campaign which aids numerous non-profit organizations and helps strengthen the safety net of our community."

"We are grateful to the University for its commitment to our annual campaign," Susan Au Doyle, President and Chief Professional Officer, said. "Thanks to their generosity and selflessness, we are able to sustain a network of organizations that work to help our community. It is truly inspiring to see the campuses reach out and strive to achieve this great milestone."

The University has participated in an Aloha United Way campaign over the past 14 years and has raised over $4.9 million in total. Through employee campaigns, creative fundraising events as well as an annual softball tournament, the University demonstrates its full commitment to the betterment of our island community.

Aloha United Way works to improve lives, motivate people to help others, increase resources to meet needs, and inspire collective solutions to community problems. The UH campaign for AUW is still accepting donations. Please contact Mel Colquitt at 543-2243 or melvin@auw.org.
