Distance delivery of UH nursing degrees approved

The University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene has received approval from the Western Association of Secondary Colleges to offer two degree programs as distance education options. They are the current Master of Science in Nursing degree option in Clinical Systems Management (CSM) and the current Bachelor of Science degree in nursing for registered nurses who have not yet received their BS degrees.

The distance learning programs use a combination of ʻreal time‘ technical capabilities such as chat room discussions, teleconferences or video conferencing, and ʻany time‘ technology such as exchanges of email, posting information to electronic bulletin boards, CD-Rom and video tape instruction, etc. Courses are taught via web pages, email, video streaming, and teleconferences.

The MS degree program in CSM is a cutting-edge 36-credit program providing first line and middle managers with the knowledge and skills needed to advance in today‘s health care environment. Students enrolled in the BS program will be able to complete degree requirements without having to attend on-campus courses. Students in either program can complete clinical requirements in their own communities under the guidance of clinical faculty.
