Ryan Mielke joins UH West Oʻahu as executive director of public affairs

University of Hawaiʻi - West Oʻahu (UHWO) recently welcomed a new member to its senior management team, Executive Director of Public Affairs Ryan Mielke.

Mielke directs public affairs activities related to staff and programs at UH West Oʻahu and serves as the primary liaison for the chancellor on all strategic communication issues. In addition, he is responsible for legislative activities involving the university and provides assistance to the chancellor in managing internal and external programs that affect the long-term objectives for the institution including management of UHWO‘s new office in Kapolei.

An experienced professional, he brings more than 15 years of management and public affairs experience to the university and was previously the deputy asset manager at Actus Lend Lease, LLC and Hickam Community Housing as well as vice president at StarrPR, the public relations arm of the former Starr Seigle Communications.Prior to joining StarrPR, Mielke also served as the programs and information director at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA). A Hawaiʻi resident of more than 20 years, Mielke resides in central Oʻahu with his family.
