The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Students will award Student Success Fellowships in the Fall to recognize outstanding UH Mānoa students who are willing to serve as peer volunteers in student development programs.  Fellowships of up to $6,000 will be awarded beginning in Fall 2010.

The program is a new initiative to help with student retention and graduation, according to Vice Chancellor for Students Francisco Hernandez. “We found that there are two ways to help students stay in college,” he said. “First, students who have jobs on campus have higher graduation rates and feel more connected to the campus. Second, student retention rates go up if they are helped by other students.”

To apply for a Student Success Fellowship, an applicant must be a current UH Manoa junior, senior or graduate level student with a 3.0 grade point average or higher.  Deadline to apply is Sunday, May 9.
