The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo hosted a delegation of high-level administrators from the Communications University of China on Monday, September 20.

The delegation, including CUC President Su Zhiwu, met with UH Hilo Chancellor Donald Straney, former Chancellor Rose Tseng and other administrators. The meetings focused on promoting cooperative ventures, including student and faculty exchange.

Located in the heart of Beijing, CUC is the premier university in China for journalism, media studies and communications. Their graduates include many of China’s prominent broadcasters and journalists.

Currently, UH Hilo and CUC have a student exchange agreement which allows UH Hilo students the opportunity to spend up to one year studying in Beijing while CUC students can come to UH Hilo.

This exchange agreement is one of more than 50 coordinated by the UH Hilo Center for Global Education and Exchange with universities around the world. These agreements permit UH Hilo students to study at universities in more than 20 countries while students from those universities come to UH Hilo to benefit from UH Hilo’s multicultural student population and study in the Big Island’s unique natural environment.
