UH West O‘ahu graduates celebrate commencement.
This Saturday, May 14, is a special day for 137 University of Hawai‘i–West Oʻahu graduates who will receive their degrees and certificates during commencement ceremonies at the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu.
 
UH West O‘ahu graduates will receive their baccalaureate in business administration, education, humanities, public administration and social sciences. Graduates will also receive certificates in various programs including applied forensic anthropology, disaster preparedness and emergency management, health care administration, and substance abuse and addictions studies.
 
Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu Peter Carlisle, University of Hawai‘i Board of Regents member Chuck Gee and University of Hawai‘i System Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost Linda Johnsrud will address the graduates. Yolanda Domingo, one of this year’s outstanding UH West O‘ahu graduates, will speak on behalf of the graduating class.
 
Domingo is the recipient of the Outstanding Social Science Student Award, president of the UH West O‘ahu chapter of the Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society, and an active volunteer with Legacy of Life, formerly the Organ Donor Center of Hawai‘i, Blood Bank of Hawai‘i, Minority Organ and Tissue Transplant Education Program and Aloha United Way. She works as a student assistant in the UH West O‘ahu Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs office and is the proud mother of three children and seven grandchildren. Domingo is the recipient of numerous scholarships and will pursue a master’s degree at the Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa this fall.
 
Commencement tickets will be distributed to graduates and are required for guest admission to the Concert Hall. Doors will open at 4:15 p.m. to ticket holders only and the ceremony begins promptly at 5 p.m. No strollers or tripods are allowed. Graduates will greet guests after the ceremony at the lawn on the corner of Ward Avenue and King Street at 6 p.m. Parking is available at the Neal S. Blaisdell parking structure for a $5 fee. Nearby street parking is free.
