University Health Services Mānoa (UHSM) has been granted renewal of its accreditation at the highest level for a three-year term by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. UHSM is the Mānoa campus health facility for students, faculty and staff.

The renewal demonstrates recognition that UHSM has met, and will continue to maintain throughout the accreditation term, national standards of an acceptable organization.  It requires substantial dedication and effort for an organization to gain accreditation, and the achievement affirms compliance to these standards as well as a commitment to continual self-evaluation and improvement.

UHSM provides general medical clinic services for evaluation and treatment of illness and injuries, preventive medicine, and the specialty clinics of sports medicine, women’s health, dermatology, mental health service and nutritional counseling. In August 2010, UHSM completed its transition to a new paperless Electronic Health Record System, manufactured by Point and Click Solutions Inc.

In addition to an on-site clinical laboratory and pharmacy, UHSM also has a health promotion program that offers extensive health education programs, including general health education, peer education and outreach, student health insurance information, and an alcohol/other drug education program. UHSM also participates in academics and training for health profession students.

In an effort to ensure that the organization provides excellent services to the University community, UHSM successfully sought accreditation in 2002, and received three-year renewals in 2005 and 2008. Accreditation for university health centers is voluntary. Out of the nearly 4,000 university health service centers across the nation, only 10 percent are accredited.
