New Northwestern Hawaiian Islands research partnership website is launched

 

HIMB's new Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Research Partnership website will highlight the research coming out of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands also known as Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. The objective of the site is to bring the research findings from this partnership into the hands of interested community members, students and partners, serving a wide range of audiences and interests.

 

The newly redesigned site has been improved to provide understandable information to the public about the research being conducted both in the main and Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. The site itself also has enhanced resources including up-to-date news and release center, events calendar, and online forums on related research topics. The site features exclusive research projects to the partnership, and provides expanded content, articles and images, as well as a new easy to navigate system.

 

"Those interested in the exciting and dynamic research coming out of HIMB now have an easy to use forum and site to access information," said Dr. Robert Toonen, principal investigator for the HIMB Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Research Partnership. Carlie Wiener, outreach and research specialist on the project adds “the new site is more intuitive and provides a new place to access information relating to our education programs and research. The site showcases the incredible beauty and unique features of the Hawaiian Archipelago that are currently being studied by scientists at HIMB.”

Amazing facts, pictures and exciting new projects are some of the features on the new site. Access to professional resources such as research databases, publications and releases for download is also available. The website offers new services and more updated accounts of the ongoing research. The site is organized to provide quick and direct access for all audiences, allowing them to link up to a vast matrix of research. Visitors to the site can also find out about news and announcements, and explore volunteer and education opportunities. There is even a glossary of scientific definitions and an interactive event calendar.

The Web team, led by Matt Chun-Hori and Todd Robertson at Hyperspective Studios has been developing the new design over the past year, working with staff at HIMB to support their work.
