Darwin Bobblehead
Darwin Bobblehead
In celebration of the 180th anniversary of Charles Darwin's first scientific voyage on the H.M.S. Beagle, the UH Mānoa Library will emancipate the Charles Darwin Bobblehead from the Library Shop display case.

Darwin arrived in Plymouth, England on December 3, 1831 and took up residence on the H.M.S. Beagle while it was still in port. He was given quarters in the chart room, one deck above Capt. FitzRoy's quarters, at the stern of the ship. In a six foot by eight foot room, Darwin would live and work for almost 5 years. After a few delays, the H.M.S. Beagle headed out from Plymouth with a crew of 73 under clear skies and a good wind.

From Halloween to the end of exam week, purchase your very own Charles Darwin Bobblehead at Hamilton Library’s Business Window for $20/each.  Supplies are limited. These “little Darwins” come complete with Darwin's life dates inscribed on the base (you'll never forget Darwin Day again!). Made of polyresin, they weigh about one pound, three ounces each and they stand approximately 7.5 inches tall. It is the perfect gift for the collector or scientist who has everything but needs something in a stocking for the holidays!

The Business Window (956-7203) in Hamilton Library is open Monday – Friday from 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 1-5 p.m.  The Sinclair Business Counter (956-8308) is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and from 12-5:45 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
