Lyon Arboretum rings in holiday season with plant sale on November 17

UH Mānoa’s Lyon Arboretum will hold its annual holiday plant and craft sale on Saturday, November 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Arboretum. The sale will be held the weekend before Thanksgiving – a great opportunity to buy unique gifts for the holidays.  Admission is free.

On hand for sale will be colorful ti varieties, cactus and succulents, orchids, anthuriums, heliconias, gingers, tillandsias and other bromeliads, Hawaiian ferns and other native plants, UH variety vegetable seeds and many other plants for homes and gardens.  Ceramic pots and planters will also be available.

Olomana Tropicals will be selling Schaueria calycotricha ‘Lime Puff,’ a versatile shrub with lime-yellow ohia-like flowers that are useful in leis or as cut flowers.  They will also be selling several kinds of lilikoi (passionfruit).

Arboretum volunteers from Hui Hana Hawai’i will sell beautiful, one of a kind dry and fresh holiday wreaths and oshibana crafts.  There will also be tasty jams and jellies and Hawaiian honey – perfect for stocking stuffers and holiday gifts.

A free shuttle service to the Arboretum has pick-up and drop-off points at the intersections of Po’elua Street and Manoa Road, and Nipo Street and Mānoa Road.

Lyon Arboretum, located at 3860 Mānoa Road, is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  It is closed on Sunday and state holidays.
