Update: Power has been restored to Bilger Hall and Bilger Addition as of 10 p.m. Sunday, February 9.  Classes will resume on Monday, February 10.

Two buildings were without electricity following a power outage that initially affected eight major buildings on campus since 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 6. More than two dozen classes scheduled for Friday, February 7, in Bilger Hall and Bilger Addition were either relocated or cancelled (see list below).

The power outage also affected a cluster of buildings including Krauss Hall, Sakamaki Hall, Hawaii Institute for Geophysics (HIG); Art Building, Building 37 and Kuykendall Hall. In addition, the outage is affecting about 20 percent of the phones on campus.

“The UHM electrical engineers have reconfigured the campus electrical routing to isolate the problem at Bilger Hall and Bilger Addition, which enabled them to return power to all other affected buildings,” said Stephen Meder, interim assistant vice chancellor for physical, environmental and long-range planning. “The campus engineers, electricians and consultants will be working throughout the weekend to bring the buildings on line for classes on Monday.”  Both Bilger Hall and Bilger Addition will be closed Friday, February 7, and on the weekend.
