The UHM Campus Center Board is pleased to announce the much-anticipated grand opening of the student-driven, student-funded Warrior Recreation Center (WRC). The grand opening of the WRC begins with a blessing at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014.

To be held throughout the day, festivities include tours of the WRC, recreational class demonstrations and entertainment. At 5:00 p.m., join us for the Taste of Mānoa and Campus Center Carnival.

The WRC will complement the already diverse programs of the Student Life and Development Office-Student Recreation Services (SRS) and contribute to the comprehensive recreation program offered on the Mānoa campus.

The facility is located conveniently on upper campus, on the Diamond Head side of Campus Center. The WRC will offer students a multi-purpose gymnasium, an indoor jogging track, a fitness center for cardiovascular and weight training, sports equipment checkout, locker rooms and showers.

The facility was designed with sustainability in mind and LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Silver certification is expected. Sustainability elements include energy-efficient mechanical systems, a photovoltaic system, water-saving fixtures, use of permeable material, solar water heating, a green roof and maximizing the use of natural lighting.

Students who are in good financial standing and who have paid the Campus Center Operation and Recreation Fee are able to access the WRC and utilize SRS services. Hours of operation for the WRC include Mondays through Fridays, 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Memberships will be available for purchase for faculty, staff and students who were not assessed the Campus Center Operation and Recreation Fee.  An annual faculty/staff membership is as affordable as $240.  Those with a valid UHM ID card are eligible for a two-week trial period from April 11-25 to determine if they would like to continue using the WRC by purchasing a membership.
