UH Mānoa’s Office of the Chancellor has initiated the formal search process for the regular appointment of a Vice Chancellor for Students (VCS). Current VCS Francisco Hernandez will be stepping down and returning to a faculty position effective August 1, 2014.

Said Chancellor Tom Apple, “Francisco Hernandezʻs leadership and dedication to UH Mānoa profoundly changed the University. He has been very effective at improving and enhancing student life and services on campus, and his efforts have set the foundation for continued student success. Toward this end, we are excited to begin the process of hiring a new Vice Chancellor for Students who will build upon UH Mānoaʻs recent successes. These include our steadily increasing graduation rates, which outpace other U.S. public universities, and the increased access for all students of Hawai‘i to an education from a university ranking in the top 65 of all major U.S. research universities, both public and private."

Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Reed Dasenbrock will chair the VCS Search Advisory Committee. The committee will recommend finalists to Chancellor Apple, who will then recommend a selectee to the UH President. The committee includes executives, faculty, staff and students from campus and system levels, as well as a representative from the community.
