Kapi‘olani Community College has been selected as one of ten winning “mentee” colleges in the American Association of Community Colleges’ (AACC) MentorLinks: Advancing Technological Education (ATE) program, which is part of a national initiative supported by the National Science Foundation.  The MentorLinks grant is for the period of October 1, 2014 – October 31, 2016, in the amount of $20,000.

“I am very pleased and honored that the AACC review panel selected Kapi‘olani CC to work on this important program that is designed to benefit AACC members,” said Chancellor Leon Richards. “In today’s rapidly changing technology field, it is critical that we support technician education and mentorships,” Richards added.

Team building, effective partnerships, and good communication are among the key factors that will make this program successful. To that end, Kapi‘olani CC project staff will attend the MentorLinks project planning meeting and ATE Principal Investigators’ Conference in Washington, DC, October 21-24, 2014.
