When students access the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Advising Center website, they are utilizing one of the “25 best” sites for educational institutions, according to an online article posted by noted design blog Vandelay Design.

Vanedlay’s rankings are based on its grading of the website in several categories, including Usability & User Experience, Accessibility, Content and Overall Design Appeal. The list includes well-known and prominent institutions like Stanford, Marquette, St. John’s (New York), University of Texas, and William and Mary. All but two of the 25 sites are university websites.

A design team made up of Advising Center Advisers Jodilyn Kunimoto and Kurt Dela Cruz, freelance web designer Arlen McCluskey, and photographer John Oshima from the Division of Student Affairs partnered with webmaster Sunny Walker and IT web services specialist Brennan Low to make the new resource available to students. The website is configured to allow content to be equally accessible regardless of device being used to access the site.

The article has been shared more than 800 times on popular social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and StumbleUpon while generating more than 3,000 visitor referrals to the site.
