$100,000 pledge will help support Wahine Sand Volleyball team, facilities
University of Hawaiʻi at MānoaJared and Donna Murayama have pledged $100,000 to support the Wahine Sand Volleyball team and facilities at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa's Athletics Department. In recognition of the Murayamas' generosity, the Wahine Sand Volleyball Head Coach's office has been named "Murayama Ohana! Cara, Jaimie, Donna and Jared. Aloha and Go Bows!"
Said Athletics Director Ben Jay, “Private support like this generous investment from the Murayamas spurs growth in quality, compliance and competitive success. We are most grateful to the Murayamas and our other generous donors for investing in our student-athletes’ success and the athletic programs that enrich our community.”
Added Wahine Sand Volleyball Head Coach Scott Wong, “The generous financial support that we have received from the Murayamas, and the rest of the community in Hawai‘i, has helped provide our student-athletes an enhanced experience while at UH, and ultimately the best chance to compete for a national championship. A big mahalo to the Murayama Ohana for investing in the overall success of our student-athletes!"
According to Jared Murayama, “We hope that all University of Hawai‘i sports fans get behind the Sand Volleyball program. They have a real shot at becoming national champions and private support will help them get there!”
