Four years ago, 31 percent of UH Mānoa freshmen students reported that they had completed foreign language coursework, against a national average of only 20 percent.  This was just one of many interesting results from the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Today, February 10, is the launch of the 2015 NSSE administration.  The results will provide unique insights into the student experience at UH Mānoa, including the role of social media in their lives and learning.

NSSE (pronounced “Nessie”) is the most important student survey in higher education, helping institutions to understand how students are spending time in and out of the classroom.  This knowledge will help guide decisions that will benefit the educational experience.  A number of freshmen and senior students at UH Mānoa will receive email invitations to participate.

Based at the University of Indiana Bloomington, NSSE is administered by hundreds of institutions across North America each year, and is considered one of the most important nation-wide student surveys in higher education.

Freshmen and senior students are encouraged to check their UH email accounts for a survey invitation sent out from Chancellor Robert Bley-Vroman, entitled “University of Hawai'i at Mānoa wants your feedback.”

All students who complete the survey will be entered into a prize drawing for either an iPad Air 2, or one of 20 UH Bookstore gift cards worth $50.
