UH West O‘ahu hosts Chamber Music Hawaii concerts for 2015-2016 series

KAPOLEI --- The University of Hawai‘i – West O‘ahu will be filled with the sounds of beautiful music as host to Chamber Music Hawaii’s concert series featuring the Spring Wind Quintet, Honolulu Brass Quintet and Galliard String Quartet. These Chamber Music Hawaii ensembles will perform a three-part concert series in West O‘ahu at the University’s Kapolei campus. All ensemble members are full-time musicians with the Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra (formerly the Honolulu Symphony).

Open to all, the concerts are free for students (with valid student ID) and will take place in UH West O‘ahu’s Library that provides a marvelous acoustic setting for the evening performances.

Spring Wind Quintet

The Spring Wind Quintet will perform Anton Reicha’s “Wind Quintet in E flat major, Op. 88, No. 2,” Bach and Schweitzer’s “Passacaglia & Fugue in C minor, BWV 582” and contemporary Puerto Rican composer, Angel Pena’s “Movements for Wind Quintet.”

Honolulu Brass Quintet

There is nothing like the sound of a brass ensemble in December. The Honolulu Brass Quintet will bring holiday cheer to UH West Oʻahu with a popular selection of seasonal music.

Galliard String Quartet

The Galliard String Quartet will perform Bedrich Smetana’s autobiographical “String Quartet No.1 in E minor ‘From My Life’” and Igor Stravinsky’s “Three Pieces for String Quartet.”

Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for seniors, military, and UH West O‘ahu faculty and staff. Discounted prices are available if purchasing tickets for all three UH West Oʻahu concerts.
