The UH Institute for Astronomy's 5th Annual OPEN HOUSE will be held on Sunday, April 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at its Manoa Headquarters at 2680 Woodlawn Drive. This festive family event will focus on astronomy and its impact on our lives, community and future. Talks and exhibits have been scheduled to highlight the work being done at IfA Hilo and IfA Maui, as well as at IfA Manoa.

Special features of "Come See What We See" include:

· "Amateur Telescope Clinic" — how to purchase, assemble and use a telescope

· "Live from Mauna Kea" — remote observing with the NASA Infrared Telescope

· "Sunspot Viewing" — see what a storm as big as the Earth looks like

· "Ask an Astronomer" — do you have any questions for our experts?

· "Lab Tours and Demonstrations" — see how "The Predator" views you, and machine shop fun — see what we can make

· "Target Earth" — asteroids, Asteroids, ASTEROIDS!

· "Keiki Star Lab" with planetarium shows — enter through our portal to see the Universe

· "Fun with Physics" for all ages — play with toys even grown-ups have fun with

· "Hands-on Activities" for all age groups — build a comet—shoot a rocket—cratering!

Prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Refreshments will be available. Admission and parking is free.
