The University of Hawaiʻi Professional Assembly announced today that University of Hawaiʻi faculty members have voted to ratify a six-year contract by a margin of 82 percent, with 65 percent participation.

Following is a statement from UH President Evan S. Dobelle in response to the ratification of the contract:

"When I came to the University of Hawaiʻi, my number one priority was higher faculty salaries. I am deeply gratified by the support of everyone involved in ratifying this agreement. I believe it is the longest term contract for public higher education faculty across the country and gives UH faculty both validation and stability."
