HILO, HAWAI‘I – The Hawai‘i Community College Chancellor Search Advisory Committee has identified four finalists for the position of chancellor and has invited them to participate in a final round of interviews. The public is invited on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 and Wednesday, March 30, 2016 to meet candidates at open forums at Hawai‘i Community College’s Manono campus in Hilo, and Pālamanui campus in Kona.

CANDIDATES

Larry Buckley serves as the president of Cañada College in California. Previously, he served as interim president and vice president of instruction at San Bernardino Valley College, vice president of instruction at Fullerton College, dean of visual, performing & communication arts at Chaffey College and dean of instruction at Lake Tahoe Community College, all in California. His 30 years in higher education includes teaching history for 14 year at Leeward, Windward and Kapi‘olani Community Colleges; UH Mānoa; UH West O‘ahu; and Feather River College in California. Dr. Buckley earned degrees in history at the doctoral, master’s and baccalaureate levels from the UH at Mānoa.

Micheal Glisson currently serves as the vice chancellor for strategic initiatives, and previously was the vice chancellor of academic affairs at South Louisiana Community College. He was the dean of allied health and nursing at Gateway Community College in Arizona and interim dean of health sciences and department chair radiologic technology at Massachusetts Bay Community College. He has 32 years of experience in higher education as a faculty member and administrator at both two-year and four-year institutions, domestically and internationally, including Monash University and Charles Stuart University, both in Australia. Dr. Glisson holds a doctor of philosophy in epidemiology, preventative medicine and medical physics and a master’s of applied science in physics from Monash University in Victoria, Australia. He received a diploma of applied science in medical radiography from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Victoria, Australia.

Anthony Munroe is the President and CEO of Munroe Management Group, LLC in Illinois. He recently served as president of Malcolm X College in Illinois. He also served as associate vice president for health systems affairs and associate dean for clinical network operations at Ross University in New Jersey. His 30-year career in healthcare administration and higher education also includes serving as president and service area leader for three hospitals in Michigan and Illinois. Dr. Munroe holds a doctorate in education with a concentration in health education and a master’s degree in public health, health policy and management, both from Columbia University. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University.

Rachel Solemsaas currently serves as the vice president for finance and administrative services at Truckee Meadows Community College in Nevada. She previously served as vice president for administrative services at Bellevue College and vice president for finance and operations at Edmonds Community College, both in Washington. With 25 years of progressive public service experience that includes 12 years at community colleges, she also served as a chief financial officer, finance director and principal accountant in Washington. Dr. Solemsaas holds a doctorate of education in higher education with emphasis on community college leadership from the Washington State University and a master’s in public administration from the University of Washington. She earned a bachelor of science in accounting from De La Salle University in Manila.
