HONOLULU — The Clinical Studies Program (CSP) in UH Mānoa‘s Department of Psychology recently received notification from the American Psychological Association (APA) of its re-accreditation for an additional seven years, the maximum number of years that can be granted for accreditation. The program has been accredited by APA since 1972.

APA accreditation is based on a five-year self-study report prepared by the program and a site visit review conducted by a three-member team, and is ultimately determined by the APA‘s Committee on Accreditation. The extensive amount of time and preparation involved in the review process requires the participation of the CSP program including department faculty members, CSP graduate students, staff, and other contributors.

"The successful outcome of CSP‘s accreditation review can be attributed to its uncompromising standards for teaching, program curricula, and research," said CSP Program Director Stephen Haynes. "CSP continues its dedication to excellence thanks to the support of College of Social Sciences Dean Richard Dubanoski and Department of Psychology Chair Karl Minke."

Scholarly accomplishments of the CSP faculty and students in the past five years include a total number of 229 publications (26 of which students are first author); 73 presentations at invited talks and workshops; members of 26 journal editorial boards; and recipients of 58 external grants and contracts. CSP has also been accredited by the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science since 2001, an alliance of leading, scientifically-oriented doctoral training programs in clinical and health psychology in the United States and Canada.
