WHAT – 2017 University of Hawaiʻi Regents and Presidential Scholarship (RAPS) Awards Dinner. 

Regents Scholars receive a full tuition scholarship for four years of undergraduate study, and Presidential Scholars receive a full tuition scholarship for two years of undergraduate study. All scholars receive a stipend of $4,000 a year and a one-time travel grant of $2,000.

Many outstanding RAPS alumni are now serving communities across the globe and here at home as the program marks its 30th anniversary.

WHEN –  Thursday, July 20, 2017. Program starts at 6:15 p.m., scholars recognized 7-7:45 p.m.

WHERE – University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, Campus Center Ballroom

WHO – 20 high school scholarship winners, 10 college junior scholarship winners, their families, UH Regents, UH President David Lassner, etc.

WHY - Celebrate and congratulate the 2017 Regents and Presidential Scholars (RAPS) and their families.

HOW -  The UH Board of Regents established the Regents and Presidential Scholarships in 1987 to support students at any UH campus with a record of outstanding academic achievement and to help Hawai‘i’s most promising students pursue their higher education ambitions here at home.

ADDITIONAL FACTS:

Regents Scholarships are awarded to 20 outstanding freshmen who receive an SAT combined score of at least 1950 on all three sections of the test or ACT combined score of at least 29, maintain at least a 3.5 GPA in academic subjects in high school, and whose extracurricular achievements are shown to be remarkable.

Presidential Scholarships are awarded to 10 college juniors who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7 for all college level work, a record of sustained progress in academic courses, and evidence of superior academic achievement or creative endeavor.
