What:  Leeward Community College Spring 2018 Commencement

When:  May 11, 2018, 5 p.m.

Where:  Tuthill Courtyard, Leeward Community College, 96-045 Ala Ike, Pearl City, HI

Who:  821 Leeward Community College students have earned their degrees; more than half of them participated in the spring commencement ceremony. Degrees conferred include the Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts, Hawaiian Studies and Teacher Education and Associate of Science degrees Natural Sciences and a variety of career & technical education programs

Why:  Mission: At Leeward Community College, we work together to nurture and inspire all students. We help them attain their goals through high-quality liberal arts and career and technical education. We foster students to become responsible global citizens locally, nationally, and internationally. We advance the educational goals of all students with a special commitment to Native Hawaiians.

Other facts:

  • First cohort of Early College students graduating with an Associate in Arts degree; 12 students from Waipahu High School and 1 student form Wai‘anae High School are part of the Class of 2018.

  • The Spring 2018 Commencement Ceremony marks the tenth and last commencement with Leeward’s Chancellor Manny Cabral, who, after 38 years of service to the college (10 as Chancellor), is retiring next month.
