Description
RESPONSIBILITY: As stated in the University of Hawaii System’s "Vision," the ahupuaa practice of respecting the land and sharing its resources is an integral part of our school system. The collaboration of teaching, research and service is imperative to the sustainability of Hawaii’s economic success, health and well being. The "U" and "H" are combined to form the ahupuaa system in order to represent the school’s overall vision. From astronomy to oceanography, from mountain to sea, the ahupuaa represents more than the past, it represents our future.
MALAMALAMA: "The Hawaiian word for light, light of knowledge, clarity and brilliance." At the top of the mountain sits a flame slightly blowing in the trade winds, shining a path to our quest for knowledge, through the ahupuaa.
STRENGTH: The two letters are intertwined, one needing the other, in order to create a balance between our school and the community.
