Yellow Pages Features Leeward Art
Art by Leeward’s Dawn Groves will be featured on the covers of the 2006-2007 Hawai'i Telecom O'ahu Yellow Pages. Groves won a contest earlier this year to create art with the theme Celebrating 100 Years of Higher Education in Hawai'i—A Century through an Artist’s Eyes. The contest was open to all UH faculty, staff and students.
Her work, A Passion for Knowledge, celebrates the university’s centennial by portraying the university in the past, present and future. The new O'ahu, Maui County, Kaua'i County and Hawai'i Island companion directories also features photographs taken by Grove.
“I wanted my piece to show the evolution of the University of Hawai'i and learning,” Groves says. “I hope that others will be inspired in their own way by this piece.”
