The Center on Disability Studies (CDS) received $40,000 from the National Service Inclusion Project to implement the Action Plan to Include Labeled and Underserved Because of Disability in Volunteer Service (APPLAUD).
APPLAUD is a partnership between the Hawai'i Comission on National and Community Service, the local Self-Advocacy Advisory Committee, a newly developing organization run by individuals with developmental disabilities, and the CDS Consumer Advisory Committee to identify and enroll people with disabilities in national service programs. APPLAUD will facilitate training, recruitment and qualification of program goals leading to sustainability of volunteers with disabilities in national service.
