Institute for Astronomy Director Candidates Visit

The candidates for director of Mānoa’s Institute for Astronomy will participate in a four-day visit that covers IfA offices and facilities on O’ahu, Maui and the Big Island. On O’ahu, the public presentations will be held at the IfA Auditorium C-214.
The candidates
August 2–5—Gunther Hasinger is the scientific director, Max Planck Institute of Plasma Physics (IPP), Germany. His presentation will be on Aug. 2, 10:30 a.m.
August 10–13—Robert McLaren is the associate director, Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. His presentation is on Aug. 12, 10:30 a.m.
August 16–19—Andrew Lawrence is the Regius Professor of Astronomy, University of Edinburgh Institute for Astronomy, Royal Observatory Edinburgh, Scotland. His presentation is on Aug. 16, 10:30 a.m.
