Manoa Earth Day Planning Meetings
Members of Mānoa Earth Day Planning Committee invite all students, faculty and staff to join them every Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Dean Hall, Room 105, to share ideas, make connections and help make a difference in preparation for Earth Day 2011 on April 20–21.
The planning committee wants to bring departments together to promote a greener Mānoa. Members are striving to create a campus atmosphere where everyone can be involved in Mānoa Makeover projects, design sustainable technology, eat healthy and share knowledge.
HI-5 Redemption Center Opens at Leeward
Reynolds Recycling has opened a full-service HI-5 Redemption Center at Leeward. The redemption center is located on the Diamond Head side of campus in the gravel lot.
The partnership was developed by the college’s Sustainability Committee in its continuing effort toward employing more earth-friendly practices and “greening” the campus.
The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturday (closed 12-1:30 p.m. for lunch). Acceptable materials include all HI-5 deposit beverage containers (cans and bottles), non-deposit glass bottles and jars and scrap metals (aluminum, copper, brass, stainless).
The HI-5 Redemption Center is open to the campus community and the general public.
