Posted on | July 15, 2011 | Comments Off

Windward and Brigham Young University–Hawaiʻi are working together to expand post-secondary educational opportunities for residents of Koʻolauloa. They will be working together to provide college prep and college level classes for students interested in beginning their college experience near their home.

Windward is planning to offer interactive video classes in the Koʻolauloa area this fall. BYU–Hawaiʻi has confirmed that any college level classes taught by Windward in Koʻolauloa will transfer to the university. Admission counselors and academic advisors at the two colleges are updating transfer agreements for courses and programs to ensure a smooth transition for students interested in starting at Windward and moving on to BYU–Hawaiʻi.

To kickoff the collaboration of the new higher education options, Windward and BYU–Hawaiʻi are holding the first-ever Koʻolauloa Educational Expo at Kahuku District Park on Sat., July 23, 9 a.m. –1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Information about a variety of colleges, programs and courses in the Koʻolauloa (Kaʻaʻawa to Pūpūkea) area will be available. Participants will get helpful advice from counselors about applying for college, financial aid, scholarships, registering for classes, and more. Read the news release for more event details.
