The university is honoring the recipients of the University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service. The award recognizes a faculty member or civil service or administrative, professional and technical employee for outstanding demonstrated work performance, service, leadership and fostering of excellence in higher education.
This year’s honorees are–Kauaʻi’s Leah Lei Agustin, Leeward’s Ron Felipe, Windward’s Susan Ma, Hawaiʻi’s Jodi Mine, Honolulu’s Zane Nedbalek, Maui’s Georgette Tanaka and Leeward’s Evelyn Wong.
Leah Lei Agustin, secretary for the director of the University Center and Academic Support, is the recipient of the Kauaʻi Community College Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service. Countless faculty, staff and students have benefited from her diligence and service, and she inspires everyone around her. Read more.
Ron Felipe, the copy center manager, is the recipient of the Leeward Community College Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service. Felipe has excellent customer service skills, provides exceptional service to the campus community and takes an active interest in making the college a better place. Read more.
Susan Ma, an IT specialist in Academic Computing Services, is the recipient of the Windward Community College Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service. Ma has provided quick and courteous front-line support for Windward’s academic and institutional computing services and consistently extends herself beyond what is expected to train and mentor staff. Jodi Mine, a budget specialist in the Office of Administrative Affairs, is the recipient of the Hawaiʻi Community College Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service. She is always willing to share her knowledge of the business office functions and consistently provides valuable insight and assistance. Read more.
Zane Nedbalek, a research support specialist in the Educational Media Center, is the recipient of the Honolulu Community College Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service. His outstanding work performance and dedication goes beyond expectations and he was instrumental in opening the new Hawaiian Center. Read more.
Georgette Tanaka, an office assistant in the Admissions and Records Office, is the recipient of UH Maui College Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service. Tanaka handles multiple aspects of the student admission process and is enthusiastic, dependable, gets along with everyone, and always gives more than 100 percent. Read more.
Evelyn Wong, an accounting lecturer in the business division, is the recipient of the Leeward Community College Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service. Her teaching excellence is evident from her positive peer and student evaluations, and she has been described as “one of my best professors” and the “perfect teacher.” Read more.
These honorees will be recognized along with other UH award recipients at the annual Convocation ceremony to be held Tues., Sept. 27, 10 a.m. at Mānoa’s Kennedy Theatre.
