Honolulu’s Herminia Esteban and Mānoa’s Mercedita Reyes were presented with the President’s Award for Excellence in Building and Grounds Maintenance.
Herminia Esteban is a janitor in operations and maintenance at Honolulu. She exhibits an earnest desire to create an environment that supports faculty and student comfort, which in turn enhances academic effort. Always friendly and eager to take on tasks, she has a strong work ethic and takes pride in doing her work well. Her cheerful, helpful attitude is appreciated and valued by all she comes in contact with. Read more about her.
Mercedita “Mercy” Reyes is a custodian with buildings and grounds maintenance at Mānoa. She puts both energy and joy into her labors and always goes the extra mile to serve the tenants of Hawaiʻi Hall. She is very approachable, easily converses with everyone, and “has one of those winning personalities that can start off your morning right. Her upbeat attitude is very refreshing.” Read more about her.
Esteban and Reyes will be recognized along with other UH award recipients at the annual Convocation ceremony to be held Tues., Sept. 27, 10 a.m. at Mānoa’s Kennedy Theatre.
